Hello world!

It's been over a year since I thought of this idea, and 4 months since I started coding hardcore.

Why am I starting to write about my journey now? Because while watching Gary Vee videos to learn about marketing, the idea of documenting my journey became solidified in my head.

Now I'm starting, with a focus on consistently posting imperfect posts.

Inspiration

I'm a huge fan of Pat Wall's blog and other similar entrepreneurs who blog.

Others include Pieter Levels, Jon YongFook, Andrey Azimov, and Riley Bennett (not a blogger but a major digital nomad inspiration) among others.

Reading about their journey and seeing how they've evolved (and continue to evolve) over the years into the person they were working on at the start of their journey was majorly inspirational for me.

I want to continue on this road, and I will. My style.

Introduction

Quick intro about my business:

  • $0 revenue.
  • 4 users.
  • 2.5 blog posts.

It's a website builder called Lancer Profile (not in love with this name tbh) and it is built with:

  • Next.js/ Mobx/ Apollo React/ Styled Components - Frontend
  • Node.js/ Express/ TypeGraphQL/ TypeORM/ Postgresql/ TypeScript/ - Backend
  • Dokku on Digital Ocean - Server backend
  • Vercel - Frontend deployment

Why am I building another website generator? I believe the market isn't saturated and there's room for another one.

If it fails, I'll have a great portfolio item and code base to build future projects. Plus all the skills I've acquired and leveling up in general with this venture.

My unique selling proposition:

  • Deploys to your Netlify account so that means free hosting and free domain connecting with HTTPS, email notifications, fastest speeds, and generous free tier.
  • Easy to create a website with it - takes 5-10 minutes and you'll have a live website.
  • Website scores - my websites have 100 for performance/seo, will get to 100s across the board.
  • Will be cheaper than the alternatives with a free tier.

Goal

I want this web app to generate $5000 USD MMR.

Why $5000? Because with 5000, I can live a middle class lifestyle while working on a web app. Seems great.

At that point, it's easily sellable or I could afford to hire quality people.

Main lessons

The main lesson from these past 4 months from working hardcore on this saas, is that it's a process.

Gary Vee likes to compare entrepreneurship to athletes like in the NBA and I totally agree.

They don't know if they're going to be successful, but they just show up and practice, day in and day out.

The same thing is with building a business. You don't know if you're going to be successful, but all you can do is show up every day and put in the hours.

And that's all I focus on. Putting in the hours everyday. My best days are the days where my diet has been flawless for many days in a row. Not a coincidence. Also my interpretation of a flawless diet means zero carb.
